Amazon announces Halo 3 release date?!?!?

My brother-in-law came by to visit this past weekend and mentioned that he had seen an online merchant (I don’t recall which one) taking pre-orders for Halo 3. So I went on Amazon and Game Stop and both list the game’s release date to be Saturday, March 31, 2007.

This is exciting news because it has been one of the long awaited games since the release of the XBOX 360.

The strange thing about this is that Bungie doesn’t seem to (or perhaps I haven’t found it) make any call to this specific date on the Halo 3 site. In fact, in the FAQ of Halo 3 on Bungie.net as of October 9, 2006, they state the following about the release of Halo 3, “Halo 3 will be released at an as-yet to be announced date in 2007. The final release date will be revealed at a future time.”

Only time will tell.
